Ted Logart interview

In this series of interviews we have reached out to some of our friends and asked them a few questions about themselves, fishing and a little bit of everything.

First up is Ted Logart!

Can you make a short introduction to yourself?

“I think I used to be more of a fisher, nowadays I’m more of a camera guy.”

When do you start to fish?

“Like most people growing up in the north of Sweden, fishing was a part of life pretty much from the get-go.”

Why do you fish?

“There is no other way to live life.”

What is the biggest difference being behind the camera and in the river swinging flies?

“It’s a huge difference but at the same time it’s very similar. You wait a lot. You drink a lot of coffee, you drive a lot of car on small dirt roads and you stay up all night and can’t fall asleep in the middle of the day.”

When did you start taking photos and making videos? And focused on fishing?

“In 2006 I sent my first article to a fishing magazine, the editor in chief told me I needed to include some photos if I wanted to get published so I did. Then one thing led to another.”

What fish do you remember the most behind the camera?

“Lars 117 cm salmon from Kengis.”

And which of your own fish do you remember the most?

“My 120 cm from Kengis.”

For a fisherman with his phone wanting to take a good photo of his catch, what should he/she do?

“Try a low angel and maybe don't stretch your arms to much in front of you At least if it’s a big fish. And always be quick about it.”

What is your biggest dream regarding fishing?

“To get an overwhelming, big-budget Netflix contract and 100% creative freedom to shoot a fly fishing feature documentary on Swedish salmon, over 5 years.”

What is the best tip you ever got regarding salmon fishing?

“Just do it!”

Thank you Ted for your time!

Please stay tuned for more interviews.

Tight lines!
