Week 22 First fish of the season

Forside.jpg

In the first week of the season we were welcoming SVT and our local group. SVT was filming an episode of FISKELIV (FISHINGLIFE) and this time they went for a fresh silvery baltic salmon in the early season. It is a though game and you need to be patient and work hard.

‍Emilie Björkman, one of the hosts from the tv show did everything she could to get in contact with the mighty baltic salmon. She fished hard and in between the runs through the pool she took care of her small daughter. It was amazing to see them together by the river.

It was some hard days for the SVT team and a slow start for the salmon. The warm weather made it though and when they ended the trip it was with a feeling that they needed to come back and continue the search of the baltic salmon. That is also a story to tell, that you cannot always count on the fish to be there and you need to remember all the other good memories from a salmon trip.

Something happened in the weekend and fish suddenly started to show up at our waters. And then the first fish took the fly. Kristian was the lucky fisher with the first landed Kengis Bruk baltic salmon and what a fish. This is why we keep coming back and spend endless of hours casting and casting. 111cm pure silver and what a fish to start the season.

It was almost like being in southern europe at some points during the weekend. Temperatures was rising, but the conditions was still good and not long after Kristian was lucky to hook such an amazing fish, Lars was the lucky guy and hooked a real baltic beauty. Lars was testing a new setup and it paid off. 95cm pure silver.

Early season fishing can be a real waiting game and sometimes it seems like the river is empty. Remember to take a break, think about the next run in the pool and what you will do. Boil coffee and warm yourself at the fire and enjoy the moment.

In the end of the weekend Kristian was once again the lucky guy. These first fish of the season is something special and sometimes it is like finding a needle in the haystack, but when you find it, it is magical. 98cm fresh baltic salmon. What a way for Kristian to start the season.
