Week 27 2019
The tricky Baltic salmon! In week 27 we had i split week, with guests from Finland.
From Sunday to Thursday we had Petri and Jori fishing at Kengis Bruk, and they started out really good. We saw a lot of fish in Zone 2, Boat pool and the fresh fish was definitely on the run, but they where tricky and hard to get in contact with. But Petri managed to hook a good size fish. He had a good fight and got the feeling of the powerful Baltic salmon. When we were ready to net the fish, the hook let go and the fish was gone. Sadly for Petri, but that's the name of the game sometimes.
Jori hasn't been fishing that long and he was all new to salmon fishing. He practiced casting, tactics and fly tying. So he would be ready for the rest of the season. To see his face and his eager to fish every time he saw a jumping salmon is a feeling we all should remember once in a while. It is something special!
Thursday we welcomed Kasperi, Markus, Pasi, Juha, Olli and Sune. They were gonna fish until Sunday. They faced the thought part of salmon fishing. Good amount of fish in the river, but they were not interested in our flies.
When we have conditions like this, it is fantastic to have a group of skilled fishermen that knows that sometimes fishing is fishing and you can't do much about it. And then the group had a really good time with good food, nice time at the fireplace and good company.
Sunday just before they were going home, Juha lost a big fresh fish at Zone 1. It was on for about 30 seconds and made a jump and the fly was gone!
