Week 30 Trout year?

Last week we welcomed back our friends from Switzerland. When you welcome guests that walk into our lodge like they feel at home, you know it’s going to be a good week.

We still have difficult times hooking the fish at Kengis, it seems like they are not stopping at the moment and gives us no time to trick them with our flies. We still see fish moving, so we cross our fingers and wait for them to stop and give us a chance.

Peter, Nils, Micke, Rudolfo Philip and Rudi fished all Kenigs water in the search of that one fish that wanted to play.

It is a pleasure to see hard working fishermen at our water doing what they need to do in difficult times. They fished day and night changed flies, lines and tactics, but fishing is hard at the moment

Micke has been fishing hard the years he has been at Kengis and it is almost like we own him a fish and for seconds he thought that he got one, but it turned out to be a nice trout. This season we have seen more big trout than the following seasons. It is good to see them back at Kengis Bruk.

Last week Pascal caught a good sized trout on zone 1 and this week Micke with a good one from zone 3.

Micke got a chance this year for a fish in the fast running water. When he was stripping the fly a salmon took his fly and went away. For a few seconds he got to feel the power. We really hope that it will happen for him one day.

We have said it before; Nature is nature and we can’t do anything to change it, but in times like these when the fishing is difficult we really like to see our fishermen develop on other aspects during a week. Fly cast is one of the things we help with and to see them go home with new knowledge and new cast is rewarding for us.

Now we are looking into August and crossing fingers that the fish soon stops in our water.

Tight lines!
