Week 31Is it Jesus?

Is it Jesus?

Week 31 was a welcoming of new friends from Switzerland.

Jiro, Tony, Rudy, Hächi & Benji.

It is not easy to be a salmon fisherman at Kengis these days. We have a poor run of fish in the river this year and that is showing at Kengis. We see fish in our water but not in the numbers we are used to. The lack of numbers in the river gives the fish much more space to move around and the pools are not occupied in the same way as other years. So our beloved baltic salmon has more space to move around and that makes it much more difficult for us to catch them.

Not really :)

Think about it; You are fishing for a fish that stops eating when it enters the river. You are casting a small fly in a river that is 200m wide and your fly is swinging past the nose of the fish in the blink of an eye. It is difficult to catch salmon and this year even more.

Kengis is located 180 km from the sea and some fish swim twice as long to the spawning ground, so the fish entering the river have many possibilities to stop or continue their journey.

So what do you do when the fishing is difficult? Enjoy. And that was what our group did in week 31. Smiles, good stories and memories. And they want to come back for revenge next year.

We are more than thankful for these guests. They accept the challenge and do their best to enjoy it even when the fishing is difficult.

Now we are looking at the end of the season and thinking; How did it go so fast? We cross fingers that the last weeks with guests is getting a little better. We hope that some fish will stop at Kengis Bruk

Tight lines!
