Week 28 - Finally Karl
Once again a great week at Kengis Bruk.
One of those weeks you will remember for a long time. We can easily say that it was a week full of smiles, good memories and fish.
We welcomed Thomas, Connel, Robert, Karl & Erik for a week on the riverbank in search of the mighty baltic salmon.
It was clear to us that we had more fish rising in the past weeks and also this week. They started to show themselves and zone 1 was getting better and better.
Thomas was the first one to get in contact with a good fish on Upper neck, zone 1. The fish almost pulled him in the water since the wading is a little tricky up there and it was a bit slippery on the rocks. In some way it was a sign of the week.
Not long after Robert felt the power of these baltic salmon and lost a big fish also at zone 1. Great to see the upper zone waking up and things starting to happen up there.
Robert put some words on his first ever week at Kengis Bruk; “legendary moments that will always stay in my mind. Losing the big fish in zone 1 on the first day was hard but at least I saw it. And the Kengis Feeling (which you only know what that means when you were here) and the pleasant company with you guys made it a really great week! I’ll be back”
For the first time ever our new friend Connel was abroad to fish for salmon. Based next to river Spey in Scotland he was used to salmon fishing, but not big waters like Torne river.
Such a good guy and really willing to learn and adapt to the way we fish our waters. So great to see the development that our guests go through here at Kengis and that just tells us that you can always learn something new.
This week Erik and Karl were back again. Erik to see if he could continue his Baltic streak and land another big Baltic salmon and Karl to see if finally could land one after many lost fish.
To be a part of a father and son trip, traveling all the way from the USA to the northern part of Sweden for one week where you hang out, fish, forget about time and place. That is special. It is something we all could learn from and remember to things like that to create lifetime memories with the closest ones.
Thank you Karl & Erik.
Did Karl get his revenge with the Baltic salmon?
Erik will tell; “This year we had another great week at Kengis. We had a great group at the lodge and had good timing with the fish moving from the fast water in Zone 2 up into Zone 1. Once again, we were reminded of the power of these fish, starting our week losing a number of them in the fast water, breaking heavy tippets and bending extra-strong hooks. I was lucky to eventually land a nice fish in Zone 1 and another in the fast water. Thankfully, my dad was able to bring his first ever salmon to hand this year after many heartbreaking losses. Each year we learn more and more about these fish, not only from our own experiences, but also from the other guests and the guides at the lodge.”
We ended the week with snacks, hotdogs and beers at the riverbank. Smiles shared and stories told.
A fantastic week and thank you for visiting us and sharing Kengis feeling.
We are ready for next week and hopefully we will see more fish moving at zone 1.
Tight lines!
Aslak
