Last week we had an amazing week at Kengis with many good memories. Warm weather and low water made the fishing tough, but our guests fished hard and did everything they could to find the fish and they did.

Will this be the right fly for the week?

When the guests arrived at Kengis the water temperature was already high and only got warmer. The high pressure had rolled in over Kengis and the weather was for tanning and swimming and not fishing.

Even though it sounds like a hard week with tough conditions, read until the end and get the best story of the season so far! 114 cm baltic dream fish!

The guests switched around and fished from 22-05 and then slept and relaxed during daytime. The right tactic in warm weather. That is why our guests can fish 24hr if they want, so they can plan the fishing for when it is the best time.

‍We still see many fish moving, and that is a really good sign for the late season when the temperature gets colder. There are high numbers in the river this year, so we cross fingers for a good second part of the season.

During the week our guests searched for faster water and found the fish. Thursday night Risto got in contact with the powerful Kengis salmon. Three lost in a short time and a broken Loop classic. As they said; “The Kengis salmon has showed it’s power”

Janne, Risto and Jouni liked the variety of the pools/zones, the accommodation placed close to the water and with everything within walking distance. They brought home souvenirs to remember a good week. They have already booked next year, so we look forward to welcoming them back.

Sebastian fished hard all week and he got to learn more of Kengis from last season. As you know it was a difficult week and as Sebastian says; he got a lot of Kengis feeling and casting training. Luckily he will come back later in the season and hopefully get in contact with a big baltic salmon.

‍Once again we welcomed a family and our first junior of the season, Oscar.

They fished hard and got to taste the power of the Kengis salmon with lost shootingheads and runninglines, but that is how it is when you search for the dream fish.

Chance and Zdzislaw both landed decent sized fish from the fast water, but this weeks best story is from our junior Oscar.

He fished hard, listened to advice and is for sure an upcoming salmon fisher.

The future, Oscar!

The future, Oscar!

Here comes his story about the dream fish of 114 cm.

“A sunny morning with colder water temperature Oscar hooked into a big fish in the fast water. A black & yellow fly was at the end of the leader. The salmon was not moving for 5 minutes and then it raced downstream. Oscar turned the fish each time and then it stopped again for some time in the fast water. One more run and then with a little luck Oscar landed his dream fish from Kengis”
